VIsiting the Oncologist

During the initial visit, we will review your pet’s medical history and then Dr. Oberthaler will discuss their particular diagnosis, and review all of the options available to make a personalized treatment plan. We will walk you through the next steps for your pet, and often we can initiate the treatment plan at this first appointment. Initial consultation visits typically last between one to two hours, but can be longer if additional tests are performed. You will often have the option of leaving your pet with us for a bit while we complete the tests and treatments. We will call or text you when everything is done!

On the day of the initial consultation, we will have contacted your family veterinarian in advance of the appointment for your pet’s medical records and any test results (like xrays), however it’s always a good idea to bring extra copies. Please do not feed your pet prior to this first appointment. Water is fine, and if your pet is on medications, it is fine to give these with a bit of food or pill pocket. If you typically give pre-appointment anxiety medications like trazodone, gabapentin, or CBD, please do give those. If you would like those medications prior to the appointment, call us. We may be able to arrange that for you by working with your family veterinarian. Any questions, just ask us.

Chemotherapy appointments

We understand that time spent with your pet is precious, and so our chemotherapy visits are scheduled appointment-style. We aim to have each pet spend the least amount of time at our clinic, away from you. Unlike many clinics, we do not “batch” our treatments, but rather will schedule a time for just your pet’s treatment, and often have the whole visit done within an hour or less for most treatments, from start to end.

PAYMENT

Treeline Veterinary Cancer Care requires payment at the time of service. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and CareCredit.

We require payment for all Phone Consultations prior to the Phone Appointment.

Insurance

Our services can be submitted to any pet insurance company.

We also have “Trupanion Direct Pay”. If your pets have Trupanion Insurance, Trupanion will pay us directly, so that you only need to pay the remainder to us.

CANCELATION policy

If it is necessary to cancel your scheduled appointment, we ask that you give at least 24 hours of advance notice. We have a strict cancellation policy. Your cancellation will give another patient access to timely medical care. Please call us a 720-432-8680 to reschedule.

a local & family-owned practice

Unlike most speciality veterinary centers, we are completely independent and family-owned. It was our dream to bring a small boutique patient-centric veterinary cancer center to Colorado. We strive to make our your experience as personal and comfortable as possible, so you can focus on your pet. Please let us know what you need and we will try to help!
